Turkish Jewelry Mounting - The Different Types

While each individual jewelry designer has their own style, some jewelry mounting types are common across the board. The Bezel setting is one of the first known kinds of jewelry mounting. A strip of the metal is shaped in the same way as the gemstone but is kept slightly higher to allow the gemstone to fit inside it.

The Prong setting, as the name suggests, involves three or four prongs with a base underneath them. The gemstone is set into the prongs. Pave settings consist of very small prongs and are usually used for very small diamonds.

In Turkish jewelry, such jewelry mountings are combined and used for necklaces, bangles, bracelets, rings, pendants, earrings, and more. Both elaborate designs and simple designs can be found at various Turkish jewelry retailers. They are made of gold, rose gold, silver, and other precious metals.
